Some Important bills I am working on:
SB76: This bill will provide non profits with an option to provide workers compensation benefits to volunteers. Non profits will have one more option that allows them to protect those who volunteer.
SB33: Occupational Safety Amendments. This bill has passed the Senate and House, it will become law once the Governor signs the bill. SB33 provides protections to employees from retaliation of employers.
SB57: Deseret News did a nice write up about a piece of legislation that I am proposing. I think this could be landmark and a great benefit to our state in the case of an emergency.
SB34: A bill that would require sanitation facilities to inform house owners that they are liable for taking care of their house’s lateral sewage line.
Hot Bills On the Hill:
HB202: This piece of legislation from Rep. Duckworth will exempt some hygienic products from sales tax. Items that the bill looks to exempt include diapers.
SCR09: Senator Weiler is proposing a resolution that would declare pornography a health crisis in Utah.
HB134: This bill from Rep. Becky Edwards would declare the spiral jelly landmark in Utah as the states official work of art.
SB64: A new Real Salt Lake license plate would be created that would raise donations to support after school programs. The license plate would require that the purchaser donate $25 to a state account that would help youth soccer.
