June 2022 Update

The summer heat has arrived in full force! I hope you are taking the time to stay cool and enjoy the sunlight.

In the legislature, we have been busy with June interim meetings, discussing future bills, laying the groundwork for the budget, and addressing pertinent study items.

Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH) Advisory Board Meeting. Last session I passed SB 258 which increased funding to the undergraduate programs at the Rocky Mountain Center for Environmental and Occupational Health.

Fun day supporting the AFL-CIO Utah Community Services Food Pantry

Enjoyed attending Entheos Academy’s presentation of their 6th grader’s community service projects. I am always so impressed by the remarkable work that students do under the guidance of Utah’s incredible teachers.

This has also been an excellent time for reflection on freedoms. As we near the Fourth of July, I am reminded of the many brave men and women who sacrificed so much to ensure that we may continue to cherish the freedoms we have in this nation. I am also reminded of the unchanging ideals this nation was founded on, namely life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Though we may disagree with one another, it is important that we continue to hold fast to these ideals.

As always, I am grateful to each and every one of you for your support and well wishes. Senate District 5 is a special place that I am fortunate to represent. I look forward to the coming community events and wish you and your loved ones a happy Independence Day!
